A healthy cranio-sacral system promotes well being. Cranio-sacral system imbalance can be caused by trauma, long term or repeated stress, or congenital conditions, and can result in sensory, motor, or neurological dysfunction. The cranio-sacral system consists of the membranes and fluid that surround the brain and spinal chord. It extends from the bones of the skull, face and mouth to the sacrum, or tailbone. Treatment consists of a gentle hands-on technique which allows the practitioner to feel the rhythm of this hydraulic system.  Imbalances in the rhythm are then corrected with gentle holding of the cranial bones of myofascial tissues, triggering the body’s self corrective mechanism, which eases restriction and improves functioning.
Cranio-sacral Therapy
Yoga
The spinal column provides both foundation and protection for our physical bodies.  Restrictions of the spine compromise physical alignment and interrupt nervous system function. Chiropractic adjustment restores spinal motion, promoting co-ordination and greater ease of movement.  Cathy adjusts the spine with techniques suitable for each individual. She may employ traditional manual adjusting, or gentle, reflexive and non or low force techniques.
Chiropractic Care

Yoga forms the cornerstone of Cathy’s work. It is a practice whereby healthcare becomes part of a self directed exploration.  Cathy’s teaching is influenced by the Iyengar tradition, and by her chiropractic training and experience.  The student develops healthy spinal movement and explores balance through the practice of classic yoga postures called asanas, and breathing awareness.  Emphasis is on safe practice, providing a solid basis for beginners, and a supportive environment for those healing from injury, or working with postural rehabilitation.  Through yoga instruction, Cathy guides students to build trust in their bodies’ inherent wisdom.
