Cathy
Englehart is a chiropractor and yoga instructor. In keeping with these traditions,
she recognizes the wisdom of the body’s self healing properties and
works in support of the natural healing process. Cathy has been in private
practice in Seattle since 1992. She was graduated Magna Cum Laude from Western
States Chiropractic College in Portland, Oregon in 1990. She has studied
with osteopathic physicians John Upledger and Hugh Milne, and focuses on
CranioSacral Therapy and gentle chiropractic care in her private practice.
She is currently exploring her experience of touch as a means of distinguishing
various vibrational qualities of living structures.. In her essay, “With
a Little Help From My Friends”, published in Sierra Books’ recent
release Between Species: Celebrating the Dolphin-Human Bond, she
compares her hands-on sensory experiences with the dolphin’s sensory
ability of echolocation, as an invitation to further explore this rich potential.
In yoga, she applies this work to the practice of linking physical experiences
with the more subtle awareness of breath, thought, and emotion. She teaches
yoga as an exploration of self, encouraging individuals to build trust in
their own body’s inherent wisdom.
